Important information, dress code and code of conduct

 

  1. Visits are to be undertaken on the sole responsibility of the visitors.

  2. If you are eligible for ticket discounts, you are required to produce proof of eligibility when you make your purchase. When purchasing advance discount tickets online, you must produce proof of eligibility as you enter the building.

  3. A security check is required prior to entering the House of Parliament. You must not enter the building with large bags, packages or objects capable of causing personal injury, such as pocket knives, knives, gas spray etc. It is forbidden to enter the building with weapons, firearms, ammunition, explosives, blasting agents or related devices, or any pyrotechnic devices.

  4. When entering the premises, visitors are only allowed to have in their hand-luggage a colourless, non-alcoholic drink, liquid medication or other special food (e.g. baby food, baby formula) in an unbreakable plastic bottle of a maximum volume of 0.5  litres. This must be taken out of the baggage for a security check. Any bottles with a content, of a material or size different from the above must be left in the cloakroom. 

  5. For the protection of the Holy Crown, it is strictly forbidden to take photographs in the great Dome Hall. However, taking pictures or using video cameras is allowed in other parts of the building.

  6. The House of Parliament is accessible to people with disabilities. In order to ensure smooth access, we kindly request that visitors in wheelchairs inform our staff about their arrival in advance by e-mail at tourist.office(at)parlament.hu.

  7. Apart from guide dogs, no other animals are permitted inside the building.

  8. Public lavatories are available in the Visitor Centre.

  9. In the event of a delay in arrival, entry may be denied without the ticket being replaced or refunded.

  10. Due to parliamentary or state events, visits may be cancelled even as late as immediately prior to admission.

  11. Parking is not permitted in front of the Visitor Centre.

  12. Visitors treated with radioactive isotopes for a curative purpose must provide us with an official hospital discharge summary issued by the given medical institution confirming the administering of the treatment.  The summary must contain the following data: the type and name of the radioactive substance used, the dates of its administering, and a confirmation that the person having been given the treatment is permitted to attend public events.
    If a visitor is unable to provide the above document, the Parliamentary Guard has the right to deny his or her admission.

  13. The official site of the Office of the National Assembly for ticket sales is www.jegymester.hu/parlament. We assume no liability for damages (such as overpriced or counterfeit tickets, refusal to refund upon cancellation of booking, etc.) arising from tickets purchased thorough other websites.

Dress code and code of conduct

The dignity of the House of Parliament requires that every visitor be dressed appropriately.

It is forbidden:

  •     To wear or display symbols of dictatorship or to conduct oneself in a manner deleterious to the National Assembly, to the national treasure of the Holy Crown and the Coronation Insignia, or to human dignity;
  •     To bring flags or other instruments of protest into the building;
  •     To raise one's voice, sing or demonstrate in the building;
  •     To eat, drink or smoke in the building;
  •     To sit, kneel or lie on the stairs, ground or furnishings in the building;
  •     To cause damage to the building or to the furnishings;
  •     To disturb or in any way hinder organisations and staff in the building in their work;
  •     To bring noise-making devices into the building (e.g. whistles, megaphones etc).

Visitors must comply with instructions and requests from the Tour Guides. Those who fail to comply with relevant regulations will be escorted out of the building by the guards.

Guided tours

The 45-minute guided tour of the Parliament building is available with an audioguide or a professional tour guide in Hungarian, English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Our other guided tours exclusively with an audioguide are available in Polish, Slovakian, Croatian, Hebrew, Romanian, Serbian, Ukrainian, Korean, Portuguese, Arabic, Slovenian, Czech, Chinese, Japanese, Bulgarian and Turkish.

Audioguided tours are available for all visitors in Dutch, Greek and Vietnamese from 15th April 2024.

During the mixed audioguided tours, after entering the visitors can choose among the above-mentioned languages and select the audio in the desired language on the spot.
